On Saturday afternoon, the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland Indians will face off in the middle game of their weekend set. The Indians (13-12) are in second place in the American League Central and just beat the Tigers, 9-4, on Thursday. The Royals (14-13) are tied with the Tigers (although slightly behind on percentage points) after a 13-2 loss against the Nationals on Wednesday. Why should you bet on Kansas City?

The Royals send one of their best pitchers to the hill in Ian Kennedy. Last Sunday, he stopped a five-game losing streak for the Royals, as he only permitted a single run in five innings, striking out six. The Royals have been inconsistent on offense, but perhaps the frustration that Eric Hosmer showed, getting tossed for arguing balls and strikes against the Nationals, will galvanize the team. The Royals are also playing uncharacteristically poor defense, but they’re not the first team to have a World Series hangover. If they can bang out some hits and ride solid pitching from Kennedy, they can win.

Why should you put your money on the Indians?

The Tribe are bringing up Cody Anderson from the minor leagues to start this game. His record so far has been atrocious in the big leagues, but apparently the team has fixed an issue with his delivery that has made a difference, and so we’ll see. The offense is finally cooking a little for Cleveland, as Michael Brantley went 4 for 5 and drove in three runs in their win on Thursday night. He elevated his average 109 points in the game, and he also made a huge catch on the warning track to end a Tiger rally in the sixth inning.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think that the Royals will catch fire against Anderson’s pitching and the offense will have a big day. I’m predicting an 8-4 KC victory.
