The Kansas City Royals (18-26) play the second game of their midweek series at Yankee Stadium against New York (26-16) on Tuesday night. The Royals came in having dropped three of five and then lost the opener, 4-2, on Monday night. The Yankees now have a two-game winning streak going after that opening win. So, what will Game 2 look like for these two? Let’s take a look at the latest MLB betting preview for this matchup.

Kansas City at NY Yankees MLB Betting Analysis & Prediction

When: Tuesday, May 23, 2017, 7:05pm ET
Where: Yankee Stadium, The Bronx
Radio: Kansas City / New York
Live Stream: MLB.tv
Pitching Matchup: Jason Hammel (1-5, 6.20 ERA) (KC) vs Luis Severino (2-2, 3.64 ERA) (NY)

Why should you bet on the Royals?

If you’re wondering what’s happened to the stuff of Jason Hammel, you’re not the only one. The Royals paid big-time to lure him over from the Cubs, and he has looked more like a batting practice pitcher than anything else. In his last three starts, he has permitted five home runs, giving up a dozen earned runs in 19 innings. However, the Royals’ bats appear to be waking up a bit. Catcher Salvador Perez blasted three times in a doubleheader for the Royals on Sunday against Minnesota. If Kansas City’s bats and arms can come through in the same game, they have a chance against the Pinstripes.

Why should you put your money on the Yankees?

Luis Severino has shown a ton of potential but just needs to start games a little better in order to last longer in games. His last start against Tampa Bay saw just a single earned run on five hits and seven strikeouts, but he needed 30 pitches just to escape the first inning. That meant that he was out of gas after five innings, and the game yielded a no-decision. None of the Royals have faced Severino, which is usually a benefit for the pitcher. There’s also the factor of those hot Yankee bats — Chris Carter, Brett Gardner and Didi Gregorius all homered in Monday’s win, and there’s also Aaron Judge, who is always a big hit waiting to happen.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I just haven’t seen anything from Jason Hammel to make me think he can deal with the Yankee lineup. I predict a 7-4 win for New York.
