Early 2019 World Series Odds & Expert Prediction

As the Boston Red Sox wrapped up the 2018 World Series, it’s never too early to talk about the 2019 World Series. Here are some early odds favorites.

Early 2019 World Series Odds & Expert Prediction

Boston Red Sox 13/2

According to Oddsmakers, their odds to win the 2019 World Series is 13/2. Can you find a weakness? They were the best team in the preseason, the regular season, and postseason in 2018. They will have to address the backend of their rotation as Joe Kelly and Craig Kimbrel are scheduled to hit free agency. Also, World Series heroes Nathan Eovaldi and Steve Pearce are slated to join them on that list. All teams will be willing to overpay for a player of their caliber that has experience and a ring.

Houston Astros 7/1

According to Las Vegas, their odds to win the 2019 World Series is 7/1. Houston needs to sign Dallas Keuchel to a long-term deal and address their starting catcher. Maldonado, an aide from their series with the Red Sox, is a brick wall back there but doesn’t offer much offensive production, something you can deal with being in the American league though.

Los Angeles Dodgers 8/1

The Dodgers odds to win the 2019 World Series is 8/1. They have made it to how many straight World Series? This team is stacked, has the payroll to remain stacked, and a history for winning.

New York Yankees 8/1

The odds for the Yankees to win the 2019 World Series is 8/1. New York proved they could put a winning squad together. They played second fiddle to Boston a year ago, but they have the cash, the draw, and the know-how to sign players who can make a difference. Manny Machado will be target number one. They still will face tough decisions in the offseason with the likes of J.A. Happ, Andrew McCutchen, Lance Lynn, and Zach Britton. If I had to guess, they will still finish behind the Red Sox, but man is this a dangerous second place team or what?

Chicago Cubs 10/1

According to Vegas, their odds to win the 2019 World Series is 10/1. A little like the Cleveland Indians, this team is well-rounded but lacks dominant players. They have great players like Rizzo, Baez, and Bryan, but the one thing they have working for them is that they play in the National League. Despite being outplayed by the Brewers last season, the National League still goes through the Cubs and Dodgers.

Cleveland Indians 12/1

The Indians are 12/1 odds to win the World Series. Cleveland is one of the most complete teams out there, but they are in the American League. Granted, they should cruise through their division, but then play the likes of Houston, Boston, and New York. Corey Kluber can only deliver so much for a club.

Atlanta Braves 14/1

According to Oddsmakers, their odds to win the 2019 World Series is 14/1. After finishing with a 90 – 72 record this past regular season, baseball fans everywhere now know who the Braves are. Who they are is the youngest team in baseball and a powerhouse of young players at that. The Braves will continue to get better and better. This team reminds me of the 2015 Chicago Cubs. Most of their callups have been made, but with a year under their belt of playing together, look out. An added advantage is that they play the Marlins and Mets quite often!

Milwaukee Brewers 14/1

The odds for the Brewers to win the 2019 World Series is 14/1. This team grabbed anything and everything it could to stave off the Chicago Cubs this past season. Lorenzo Cain and Christian Yelich are bonafide studs. Adding them to the likes of Jesus Aguilar and Ryan Braun proved to be nasty enough to make a real difference.

The Milwaukee Brewers are among the favorites to win the 2019 World Series.

They need to make signing Mike Moustakas a priority. They will likely lose pitching like Gio Gonzalez and Joakim Soria so addressing that may take precedence over signing another third/first basement when they seem to have several already on the roster though.

Oakland Athletics 35/1

Oakland’s odds to win the 2019 World Series is 35/1. This past year, the A’s snuck up on a lot of us. They seem to do this periodically under Billy Bean. They will spike for a year or two and then sell off and rebuild. If they make it to the playoffs next year, I doubt they will last long. This sell-off will happen before you know it.

Colorado Rockies 35/1

According to oddsmakers, their odds to win the 2019 World Series is 35/1. The Rockies will be relevant as long as they have Trevor Storey and Nolan Arenado. That side of their defense is outstanding both in the field and at the plate. D. J. LeMahieu and Charlie Blackmon are no scrubs either. Keeping Wade Davis under contract long term was a smart play by them last offseason. Look for them to bolster the starting rotation this year. If that happens, look out.

Enjoy the offseason. Major League Baseball will be back before we know it!
