The Chicago Cubs (10-8) visit the Pittsburgh Pirates (8-10) on Tuesday as part of their midweek series. The Cubs saw a four-game winning streak come to an end on Sunday, as they fell to the Cincinnati Reds, 7-5. The Pirates took two of three at home in interleague play from the New York Yankees, including a 2-1 win on Sunday. Let’s take a closer look at this baseball betting preview.

Cubs at Pirates MLB Betting Pick & Game Info

When: Tuesday, April 25, 2017, 7:05pm ET
Where: PNC Park, Pittsburgh
TV: RTPT / WGN
Radio: Chicago / Pittsburgh
Live Stream: MLB.tv
MLB Odds: TBA
Pitching Matchup: Kyle Hendricks (1-1, 6.19 ERA) (CHI) vs Gerrit Cole (1-2, 4.70 ERA) (PIT)

Why should you bet on the Cubs?

The world champs are scuffling a bit to start the regular season, as the starting pitching has continued to perform unevenly. The offense seems to be catching on a bit, though, although in Sunday’s loss they had some frustration against soft-tossing Bronson Arroyo. Anthony Rizzo has three home runs in his last three games, and Kyle Schwarber’s presence in the leadoff slot is paying dividends. Kyle Hendricks has a 3-2 lifetime record in eight career starts against Pittsburgh, posting a 3.77 ERA.

Why should you put your money on the Pirates?

Gerrit Cole has put together three consecutive quality starts, lasting six innings each time. In his last start, he permitted just two runs while fanning eight men. The Pirates are still trying to overcome the suspension of star center fielder Starling Marte, but their timely hitting on Friday and Sunday showed that they can take on better-than- average starting pitching, and with Cole on the mound, this should be a competitive night for the Pirates.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I see the Cubs taking this series, but I think the Pirates win this one. Cole will outpitch Hendricks as the Pirates win, 5-2.
