Colorado at LA Dodgers MLB Betting Pick & Preview

Posted by Aaron . on April 18, 2017 in

The Colorado Rockies (9-5) take on the Los Angeles Dodgers (7-7) in the second game of their midweek series on Wednesday night. The Rockies took three of four in San Francisco over the weekend, the first time they’ve won a four-game set in the Bay Area in franchise history, including a 4-3 squeaker of a win on Sunday. The Dodgers split a four-game home series with Arizona over the weekend, dropping the finale, 3-1 on Sunday. The teams open their series on Tuesday night. Here’s a closer look at the MLB betting prediciton for this game.

Why should you bet on the Rockies?

Colorado is benefiting from a good deal of timely hitting in their solid start. Charlie Blackmon got things going from the get-go in Sunday’s win, leading off with a home run, and Nolan Arenado doubled in a pair of runs as the Rockies finished the top half of the first to take a 3-0 lead. That gave them just enough, although they’d need a fourth run in the second to take the lead again. Greg Holland has now converted seven saves in seven opportunities as the Rockies’ bullpen has been solid as well. Those are all trends that will serve Colorado well as they head to Chavez Ravine.

Why should you put your money on the Dodgers?

The pitching matchup is your best guide for this wager decision. Yes, the Rockies lit Clayton Kershaw up for three home runs, including a pair of back-to- back blasts — the first time Kershaw has permitted consecutive homers. However, his opponent this time is Tyler Anderson, who took the team’s only loss in San Francisco over the weekend, going just four innings and committing a pair of balks. Anderson’s biggest problem has been his inability to find the plate, as he has permitted six walks, and five of them have come around to score. Kershaw almost had a complete-game shutout in his last outing against Arizona, so he definitely seems to have sharpened things up.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think the Rockies have some potential to make noise in the National League West this season, but I don’t see this pitching matchup going well for them. I predict a 4-1 Dodger win.
