The Chicago White Sox (2-3) will continue their midweek series in Cleveland against the Indians (3-3) on Wednesday night from Progressive Field. The White Sox dropped two of three against the Twins over the weekend, losing 4-1 on Sunday, and they open the series against the Tribe on Tuesday afternoon. Cleveland opened the season with a three-game sweep of the Texas Rangers before heading to Arizona, where the Diamondbacks returned the favor with a three-game sweep of their own, winning Sunday’s finale 3-2. Let’s check out who the MLB betting favorite for this game.

Why should you bet on the White Sox?

Derek Holland spent eight years with Texas before the club opted not to sign him to a new contract after last season. Highlights include a complete-game shutout of the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 5 of the 2011 World Series; lowlights include missing most of a season after falling down the stairs in his condo. In 2016, he seemed to be missing that strikeout pitch that he had shown in years past. In his season debut, he permitted three runs (two earned) in six innings against Minnesota, taking the loss. If you like the Palehose in this game, you see him showing the determination to shut down a talented Indian batting order.

Why should you put your money on the Indians?

Danny Salazar pitched better than the numbers show in his season debut, fanning nine men in 5 innings. He did permit five runs (four earned), but he had some shoddy defense behind him. The Tribe clobbered Rangers pitching for 21 runs in their first three games but went cold out in Arizona — switching to that National League-style lineup, with the pitcher batting, can do that. Returning home for their home opener will give the Indians a real charge as they raise their pennant banner and get to take on a pitcher in Holland whose drop in velocity remains a concern.

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I’ve always been a big fan of Holland’s pitching, but I’m not sure his stuff will stop the Tribe on Wednesday. I predict a 5-2 Cleveland win.
