Why should you bet on the Cubs?
After dominating the Angels in their first two games, outscoring the Halos by a combined score of 15-1, the Cubs appear to be dominant out of the gate. Cubs’ hitting consultant Manny Ramirez has predicted that the offense will be significantly better than what the Cubs were able to produce in 2015, and that was a team that won more than 90 games. Chicago added to their starting rotation by snatching John Lackey from the Cardinals, and if he can provide the same dominant pitching in the Windy City, the Cubs are well on their way to breaking that god-awful curse.
Why should you put your money on Arizona?
Paul Goldschmidt continues to rake for the Diamondbacks, picking up just where he left off last year. On Tuesday, he hit the second longest home run in all of baseball, launching a 445-foot shot to pace the rout of the visiting Rockies. In this game, the Diamondbacks send Rubby De La Rosa to the mound. He has a big fastball (averaging around 95), but they are flat, and he doesn’t mask the change-up well, which is why he was third in the National League with 32 home runs surrendered. If he can keep the fastball down, though, the Cubs could struggle to get the ball out of the infield.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I’m predicting that the Cubs will get to De La Rosa early and rely on Lackey to manage the Diamondback attack. I’m predicting a 7-2 Cub victory.
