Why should you bet on Boston?

Wednesday brings the only struggling member of the White Sox rotation to the mound, as John Danks has simply not pitched well so far this season. In his start last Thursday at Baltimore, he permitted nine hits and six runs during his five innings, as the Orioles went on to a 10-2 romp. David Ortiz has hit two home runs off Danks in his career, Xander Bogaerts is hitting .444 against him, and Mookie Betts and Brock Holt both feature .500 averages. Ryan Hanigan is almost an automatic against Danks (.800 BA in five AB). The clutch hitting the Red Sox have been delivering was crucial in their sweep of the Yanks.

Why should you put your money on the White Sox?

Boston’s starting pitcher isn’t having much more luck than Danks. Clay Buchholz has permitted five earned runs in four of his five starts so far. When he pitches at U.S. Cellular Field for his career, he has gone 2-2 with a 3.38 ERA. Melky Cabrera and Austin Jackson have both taken Buchholz deep. The White Sox have been terrific on offense so far. Brett Lawrie homered in three straight games (through Monday), and he went 6 for 14 in the four-game set against the Orioles.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I think that Buchholz will end up having the slightly better day of the two starting pitchers, and I like Boston to ride that momentum from their sweep into this series as well. I’m predicting a 4-2 Red Sox win.
