Boston at NY Yankees MLB Betting Preview & Analysis for Thursday

When: Thursday, June 8, 2017, 7:05pm ET
Where: Yankee Stadium, The Bronx, NY
Radio: Boston / New York
Live Stream:
Pitching Matchup: David Price (1-0, 3.00 ERA) (BOS) vs Michael Pineda (6-3, 3.76 ERA) (NY)

Why should you bet on the Red Sox?

The Red Sox bats were hot on Tuesday night, as Mitch Moreland and Hanley Ramirez hit back-to-back home runs for Boston and Andrew Benitendi added a blast later on, giving the Sox the offense they needed for that 5-4 win. Boston is also glad to see David Price continue his season after an early stint on the disabled list. In his pitching career at Yankee Stadium, he has an 8-5 record with a 3.98 ERA. However, last year he started against the Pinstripes five times and went just 1-3 with a mammoth 7.89 ERA. Can he get back to his earlier Bronx form?

Why should you put your money on the Yankees?

The Yankees start Michael Pineda, who has been one of the more solid members of the rotation. His last start against Toronto wasn’t so good (5 IP, 10 H, 5 ER), but his trend is still strong, as he had a nine-start streak of permitting no more than three earned runs going. While David Price is still seen as one of baseball’s best pitchers, several of the Yankees have done quite well against him. Starlin Castro (.429, 1 RBI), Didi Gregorius (.476, 1 HR, 5 RBI), Austin Romine (.429, 5 RBI) and Gary Sanchez (.400, 2 HR, 4 RBI) have all seen pitches that they could hit quite well from Price in prior starts.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

It’s good to see Price pitching well and back in the rotation, but his numbers against the Yankees for the past season have not been good, and I like Pineda to get back to that dominant form he’s shown most of the year. I predict a 5-3 win for New York.
