Boston at Baltimore MLB Betting Prediction & Game Pick

The Boston Red Sox (28-23) open a four-game weekend set in Baltimore against the Orioles (26-24) on Thursday night. The Red Sox look to have turned things around, winners of seven of their last nine contests, including a 13-7 victory over the Chicago White Sox on Tuesday. The Orioles are heading in the other direction, having lost eight of their last nine, including an 8-3 loss at home to the New York Yankees on Tuesday night.

Boston at Baltimore MLB Betting Prediction & Game Pick

When: Thursday, June 1, 2017, 7:05pm ET
Where: Oriole Park, Baltimore
Radio: Boston / Baltimore
Live Stream:
Pitching Matchup: Eduardo Rodriguez (4-1, 2.77 ERA) (BOS) vs Wade Miley (1-3, 3.02 ERA) (BAL)

Why should you bet on the Red Sox?

Eduardo Rodriguez loves pitching in Baltimore; in his career, he has started there six times, posting a 3-1 record with a 1.34 ERA. One of the most pleasant surprises from the Red Sox winning streak has been Deven Marrero, called up two weeks ago to play third base. His defensive credentials were already well known, but his bat is starting to get some notice as well, as he slammed a pair of home runs in Tuesday’s win over the White Sox. That energy should carry over into the Baltimore series, particularly if Rodriguez pitches up to his usual standards.

Why should you put your money on the Orioles?

Wade Miley continues to struggle to make it more than five innings in games this year. In his last start against Houston, he permitted four runs on eight hits in just five innings. The matchup with Rodriguez makes betting on Baltimore tough — after all, since their 22-10 start to the year, the O’s have gone just 4-14. No one’s been hitting — Manny Machado struck out four times in Tuesday’s loss, and Chris Davis has struck out 79 times in 175 at-bats. If they can’t find some pitches to hit on Thursday, I see them opening this series with a loss.

Free Pick and Final Score Prediction

The Orioles don’t show any signs of catching that magic they had in the first 32 games of the season. I see Rodriguez coming in and holding the Baltimore offense in check, while the Red Sox knock Miley around, and I predict a 6-3 Boston win.
