MLB Betting: Top Series of the Week to Wager On June 28 Edition

There are many great MLB series this week. However, one stands above the rest as the best of the week. The Los Angeles Dodgers will host the San Francisco Giants for a brief two-game series at Dodger Stadium.

These two games are defined by star power, and it could be a week where Los Angeles comes within 1.5 games for the lead in the National League West. Let’s take a closer look at both teams and how they arrive into this series so you can get all set to make your bets against their MLB odds.

Top MLB Series of the Week to Bet On – San Francisco Giants vs.  LA Dodgers

National League West Rivals

Nobody expected the Giants to be in the National League West in first place with two weeks until the All-Star break. San Francisco has been one of the most efficient teams in baseball. They do not have a roster like the Dodgers, but they have proven they can win against good teams.

Los Angeles has not found a groove in 2021, but they are still one of the best teams in baseball. Injuries have hurt the team this season, but the headliners are getting healthy. This is terrible news for the rest of the teams in the National League West.

The National League West is a three-team race between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and San Diego. The Giants are 50-27, and the Dodgers are 47-31 on the season. The Dodgers are 3.5 games back, and the Padres are right behind the franchise.

Even though this is a two-game series, both games are critical for the Giants and Dodgers.

The Pitching Matchups

If you enjoy great pitching, you will get it in this series. The first game will feature Anthony DeSclafani and Trevor Bauer. Both pitchers have well under a 3.00 ERA, but they have different styles.

DeSclafani has won by locating pitches and outsmarting batters. Bauer is one of the most intelligent pitchers in the game, but he can win with power. Bauer has struck out 129 batters in 101.2 innings of work.

DeSclafani is averaging less than one strikeout per inning, but he has only allowed eight home runs. He has the advantage over Bauer in this category.

Game two will showcase Kevin Gausman and Walker Buehler. These two pitchers are the respective aces for their staffs. Gausman is 8-1 with a 1.49 ERA and 112 strikeouts.

Buehler is 7-1 with a 2.51 ERA. Both pitching matchups will be worth watching this week.

Offensive Leaders

The Giants are winning with pitching, but their offense has also been solid. Brandon Crawford has been the most reliable hitter for the team. Evan Longoria and Brandon Belt are injured, but Crawford has carried the load lately.

He has a .339 OBP with 16 home runs and 50 RBI. The Dodgers’ offensive attack has been more of a team effort. Max Muncy and Justin Turner have carried the team in multiple offensive categories.

Turner is batting .292 with an OBP of .382 and 40 RBI. Muncy is only batting .262, but he has hit 15 homers in clutch situations.

These two powerhouses will likely split this two-game set. However, it would not be surprising to see the Dodgers take both games as their players start to get healthy. When Los Angeles is healthy, they are the best team in baseball.
