We’re over a third of the way through the 2021 Major League Baseball season. We’ve already seen some surprises this season. Some teams that were thought to be World Series contenders have yet to play like they were predicted to, while we’ve had some teams that were predicted to be on the outside of the playoff picture looking in, playing well and look like a playoff team.
Baseball bets can be some of the toughest bets to make. Let’s take a look at some games this weekend where we think that you can turn a few dollars into a lot of cash. Let’s get right to it so you can bet against their MLB odds.
Top MLB Games to Bet On From June 11th to June 12th
Friday, June 11th – San Diego Padres @ New York Mets
Surprisingly, the New York Mets are sitting atop the National League East. They currently lead the Atlanta Braves by 3.5 games. The Mets made a lot of offseason moves, but the experts didn’t think that they were quite ready to make a leap into the playoff picture.
As for the San Diego Padres, they’re currently sitting in 3rd place in the National League West. They’re just 2.5 games behind the surprising San Francisco Giants for the division lead while sitting just a half game behind the Dodgers for second place. The Padres have dealt with COVID issues, a plethora of injuries, and some starting pitching issues. Yet, with all of these problems, they’re still in the playoff hunt.
What makes this game very interesting for bettors is the fact that the best pitcher in Major League Baseball will be on the mound for the New York Mets. Jacob deGrom and his 5-2 record with a 0.62 ERA will look to dominate the Padres lineup. deGrom can be nearly unhittable at times. His 0.62 ERA is the lowest by a starting pitcher in his first nine starts since earned runs became an official Major League Baseball statistic.
Having deGrom on the mound against the struggling Padres starter, Blake Snell, gives the Mets a huge advantage. Even though Snell threw well in his last start, he has not had a good 2021 season. With a 2-2 record and a 4.83 ERA, Snell has failed to live up to the expectations after he was acquired in an offseason trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Saturday, June 12th – Chicago White Sox @ Detroit Tigers
While the Chicago White Sox are one of the best teams in Major League Baseball, and the Detroit Tigers are sitting near the bottom of the American League Central, there’s one sole reason that we really like the White Sox in this one.
Dylan Cease is scheduled to start on the mound for the Sox, and he absolutely owns the Detroit Tigers. Cease is undefeated in his seven career starts against the Tigers. He’s 7-0 with a 1.91 ERA with 47 strikeouts in 42 innings. In his two starts against the Tigers this year, he has thrown 14 scoreless innings.
Jose Urena will be on the hill for the Tigers. Urena has not had a good season for the Tigers. He’s 2-5 with a 4.25 ERA on the season. Look for the powerful White Sox lineup to jump on Urena early and often.
