One weekend of MLB Betting action down, a bunch of the season to go. Take a look at some of our top Major League Baseball Betting Picks of the Week.

Top MLB Betting Picks of the Week – April 1st Edition

Milwaukee Brewers @ Cincinnati Reds – Monday, April 1, 2019

Zach Davis will take the mound for the visiting Brewers, while another member of the Nationals’ firesale will head to the mound in the home half of the opening inning, Tanner Roark. The Reds will be looking to make a splash at home. I feel like the edge on the bump goes to the Reds in terms of starting pitching, but in every other arena, the Brewers are superior. They have a deeper bullpen, they definitely have a more dynamic lineup, and their coaching is more proven as well.

I’ll take the Brew crew to keep the pedal to the metal from a year ago in which they won the National League’s Central Division. The Reds did get Yasiel Puig to add to their lineup, but I doubt he comes with enough firepower to combat the lineup that Milwaukee comes to town with, including NL MVP, Christian Yelich. I’ll take the Brewers to win on the road 4-2.

Houston Astros vs. Texas Rangers – Tuesday, April 2, 2019

Justin Verlander will take the mound for the ‘Stros and MLB Journeyman, Shelby Miller, will take the mound for the Rangers. So far this season, the Rangers haven’t been too imposing to their opposition. After Verlander got his big extension, he should have nothing to worry about but hitting the mitt. The Astros are one of Vegas’ favorites to win the world series and for good reason. They have one of the most complete teams in the league with very few holes, a young core in their infield with Alex Bregman, Carlos Correa, and Jose Altuve.

They also have Josh Reddick, a proven defensive outfielder, and added Michael Brantley in the offseason. I like the way they are built in the field. They are a little weak behind the plate and in Left field, but they also have one of the very best pitching staffs in the league, which can overcome plenty of deficiencies. The Rangers are a few years off from their big rebuild hitting stride so I’ll take Houston to wipe them up in this one. I’ll take the Astros to beat them by a score of 6 – 3.

Boston Red Sox vs. Oakland Athletics – Tuesday, April 2, 2019

Two words here, Chris Sale. He will be atop the mound for Boston. The dude is hands down the nastiest pitcher in the league and he consistently goes past the 6th inning. He will strike out ten or more in this one and will be the difference maker for the Sox.

The Athletics are very good, so I’m not taking anything away from them, but very few teams can hit off of Sale, and not one team can hit him consistently enough for me to bet against him. I like the Red Sox’ lineup to compete with most opponents as well, regardless of who is on the mound. Again, a Vegas favorite to win the World Series, the Red Sox should not surprise many when picked to win ball games. I’ll take them to win by a score of 3 – 1.

Have a great week of MLB Betting action!
