Odds to Win the 2021 MLB World Series: Favorites
Los Angeles Dodgers +375
Last year’s World Series champs are sitting at the top of the mountain once again. The Dodgers are the favorites to win their second title in a row. Their pitching has been great, and their hitting is really starting to come around. The Trevor Bauer situation could put a damper on things, but even if Bauer doesn’t pitch again this season, the Dodgers are still very talented and will be able to carry on without him.
Houston Astros +600
Even though they’ll be linked with the cheating scandal of a few years past, the Astros are showing everyone that they don’t need to cheat to win. Houston has one of the best offenses in the game. They’re showing everyone that even without Gerritt Cole and Justin Verlander, they still can win. They’ve had numerous key players miss time with injuries, yet they’re still one of the favorites to win it all.
Chicago White Sox +750
Speaking of injuries, the White Sox have had their fair share this season. Eloy Jimenez, Luis Robert, Michael Kopech, Yasmani Grandal, and Adam Eaton are key players that have missed numerous games due to injury. Jimenez hasn’t played yet this season, and Robert has missed most of the season. Even without them, the White Sox pitching has sparked them to a nice lead in the American League Central. Once they get a full squad, this team could be very hard to stop. They have a great group of starters, and their bullpen is second to none.
San Diego Padres +800
Although they may not even win their division, the San Diego Padres are one of the favorites to win the World Series. Their young tandem of Fernando Tatis Jr. and Manny Machado are one of the best duos in the game. The Padres made some big acquisitions in the offseason, including trading for Blake Snell and Yu Darvish to anchor the pitching staff. Although Snell has struggled this season, Darvish has been very good. The Padres have a very good lineup and a very good pitching staff to go with it. They’ll be very good come playoff time.
New York Mets +850
When the Mets changed ownership in the offseason, the new owners made sure that everyone knew that they were there to win. They traded for Francisco Lindor and Carlos Carrasco and signed Lindor to a huge extension. The pitching staff has been tremendous. Jacob deGrom has looked unhittable at times and going into a playoff series where he could pitch three times, and the odds are against his opposition.
