Baltimore at Minnesota MLB Odds Analysis

Posted by Aaron . on May 10, 2016 in

The Baltimore Orioles and the Minnesota Twins wrap up their midweek series on Wednesday afternoon. The Twins (8-23) are dead last in the American League Central, with their most recent game resulting in a 3-1 loss to the Chicago White Sox. The Orioles (18-12) sit atop the American League East and just stomped the Oakland A’s, 11-3, on Sunday. The teams were supposed to open their series on Monday but the game was postponed due to rain. Find the latest MLB betting lines here.

Why should you bet on Baltimore?

The pitching matchup alone should tell you why the Orioles are a solid pick here. The O’s send Tyler Wilson back out to the mound, and since he took the rotation spot of the injured Yovani Gallardo, he has been quite good, posting a 3.04 ERA. In his last start, he pitched five scoreless innings against the Yankees until they got him for three in the sixth, but that’s still not a bad start. The Twins, on the other hand, send out Phil Hughes, whom they gave ace money to in his last contract but who has been especially dreadful as of late, losing his last three starts and only lasting two innings in his last start, as the Astros shelled him for six runs.

Why should you put your money on the Twins?

The Twins have lost five in a row, but they were also the first team to beat the Houston Astros’ Dallas Keuchel (the reigning Cy Young winner) in Houston. Brian Dozier slapped out three hits, breaking an 0-for-16 slump with a double in the first and a single in the fourth. Eduardo Escobar and Eddie Rosario joined that hit parade in the fourth inning, and Byung Ho Park slugged a triple. If the Twins can get something started against Wilson, and if Hughes can show the stuff he showed before the Twins signed him to that big deal, then it could be a “W” for MInnesota.

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like the Orioles to get to Hughes early and then cruise to a 7-2 win.
