Atlanta at LA Angels MLB Betting Lines & Game Info for Wednesday

The Atlanta Braves (22-27) continue their midweek series in Los Angeles against the Angels (26-28) on Wednesday night. The Braves had dropped four of five before taking the opener of this series on Monday night in a 6-3 win that saw all six Atlanta runs come in the third inning and also saw Angel star Mike Trout head to the DL for thumb surgery. The Angels were already reeling and have now dropped five of six.

Where: Angel Stadium, Anaheim, CA
TV: FSW, FSSE
Radio: Atlanta / Los Angeles

MLB Odds: TBA
Pitching Matchup: Jaime Garcia (2-3, 3.58 ERA) (ATL) vs Jesse Chavez (4-6, 5.09 ERA) (LA)

Why should you bet on the Braves?

Jaime Garcia has been pitching terrific ball lately. In his last 14 ⅔ innings, he has permitted just a single earned run, and his last time out, he shut out the San Francisco Giants for 6 ⅔ innings. The Braves’ offense has also been clicking as of late. In Atlanta’s win on Monday night, Danny Santana and Matt Adams each hit two-run doubles, and the Braves were able to double up the Halos. The loss of Mike Trout from the Angels’ lineup means that pitchers will be able to stay away from Albert Pujols, which means that a Los Angeles offense that was already sputtering could slump even further.

Why should you put your money on the Angels?

Jesse Chavez did not pitch well his last time out, lasting just 3 ⅔ innings and permitting five earned runs. However, he has never yielded an earned run against the Braves, having faced them four times in relief (5 ⅔ combined innings pitched). Also, several of the Angels have hit Garcia well in the past — Danny Espinosa (.333, 1 HR, 1 RBI), Martin Maldonado (.294, 1 HR, 3 RBI), Cameron Maybin (.429, 1 HR, 2 RBI) and Ben Revere (.667, 1 RBI).

Betting Pick and Final Score Prediction

I’m sure the Angels will still put forth maximum effort in Trout’s absence, but I’m not sure Chavez can pitch well enough to get a win here. I predict a 7-4 Braves win.
