Why should you bet on Arizona?
The Diamondbacks’ offense has been humming so far, which is a big reason why they have won four of five going into Wednesday’s game. Paul Goldschmidt might be the most dangerous hitter in the National League, and he and Jean Segura knocked in runs for the Diamondbacks in Tuesday’s game. The Arizona bullpen has also gotten off to a solid start; in the first two games against the Giants they have not permitted an earned run, continuing a fairly impressive trend in shutting down powerful offenses.
Why should you put your money on the Giants?
While San Francisco has been inconsistent so far this season, Johnny Cueto has been anything but up and down. There were some concerns coming in given his lack of dominance when pitching for the Kansas City Royals after the trade deadline and in the postseason, but Cueto has won all three of his starts and has already struck out 19 hitters. In his eight career starts against the Diamondbacks, Cueto has gone 6-1 with a 2.54 ERA. The return of Buster Posey to the Giant lineup gives them stability behind the plate as well as another dangeorus bat. Also, Shelby Miller is on the mound for Arizona, and he has an unsightly 8.53 ERA through three starts so far.
Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction
I like the Giants to victimize Shelby Miller’s pitching and ride Johnny Cueto’s arm to a dominant win. I’m predicting a 6-1 San Francisco win.
