Why should you bet on Arizona?

It’s difficult to argue for putting your money on the Diamondbacks in this matchup straight up right now, because none of their starters have been pitching well, and their offense has been scuffling. They are showing some signs of life, though — in their 5-4 loss to the Astros, Michael Bourn slugged an RBI double in the top of the ninth, cutting a 4-1 Astro lead to 4-2. Then, Jake Lamb pounded a two-run blast to bring the game level at 4-4. The Astros were able to score the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth, but hopefully the Diamondbacks can scrape together some more offense against Jon Lackey.

Why should you put your money on the Cubs?

The Cub offense has been struggling a bit. On Tuesday, the Dodgers shut them out, 5-0, and then the Cubs were barely able to scratch out a 2-1 win on Wednesday, a game in which they only had three base hits but were fortunate to see a gem from Jon Lester, who threw a complete game, scattering four hits and just permitting one run.

Expert Pick and Final Prediction

Wrigley Field is a tough place to win, and the Diamondbacks simply haven’t been finishing games lately. I think Lackey can manage the Arizon lineup, so I’m predicting a 4-1 Cub win.
