The Arizona Diamondbacks (32-22) continue their East Coast swing with a stop in Miami against the Marlins (20-30) on Thursday night. The Diamondbacks have cooled off a bit, dropping three straight before beating Pittsburgh, 3-0, on Tuesday. The Marlins have won three in a row and four of five, including a 7-2 shellacking of the Philadelphia Phillies on Tuesday.

Arizona at Miami Thursday MLB Expert Betting Prediction & Game Info

When: Thursday, June 1, 2017, 7:10pm ET
Where: Marlins Park, Miami
Radio: Arizona / Miami
Live Stream:
Pitching Matchup: Zack Greinke (6-3, 3.24 ERA) (ARI) vs Jeff Locke (0-0, 0.00 ERA) (MIA)

Why should you bet on the Diamondbacks?

Zack Greinke has actually been pitching like the ace that Arizona paid him to be, winning five in a row until he took a 6-1 loss at the hands of Milwaukee on Saturday. For the month of May, though, Greinke has strong numbers, 4-1, 3.28 ERA, 44 K. The Arizona bats should do well against Jeff Locke, too. Gregor Blanco (.429 career average against Locke), Daniel Descalso (.800, 1 RBI), Paul Goldschmidt (.417), Jeff Mathis (.400) and Yasmany Tomas (.667, 1 HR, 2 RBI) have all done well against him in the past.

Why should you put your money on the Marlins?

Jeff Locke is returning from the disabled list to get his first major-league start of the season. In his four rehab starts, he posted a combined 1.77 ERA, but that was all against minor league competition, and he faces an Arizona team that has hit him well in the past. That may not matter, though, because the Marlins have been scoring in bunches lately. Against Philadelphia, Marcell Ozuna hit a big home run, and Giancarlo Stanton hit his third long ball in the last week. Justin Bour reached base safely four times, and Dee Gordon has hit .436 in his last nine games. But can they find that sort of success against Greinke?

Expert Pick and Final Score Prediction

I like this resurgence that the Miami offense has shown lately. However, I see Greinke settling them down a bit while his teammates tee off on Locke. I predict an 8-1 Arizona win.
