PGA Odds & Picks: 2017 John Deere Classic
The golf betting action resumes this week with the 2017 John Deere Classic, which is set to start this Thursday, June 13th at the TPC Deere Run. The par 71 course with more than 7,100 yards of action will look to see if three time champion Steve Stricker or defending champion Ryan Moore can get back in the winner’s circle. The event has been going on since 1971 as the Quad Cities Open, but has turned into one of the biggest and most popular challenges in the annual PGA calendar. Let’s take a look at our PGA betting odds and picks for the 2017 John Deere Classic and check who stands the best chance according to the lines released by MyBookie:
Daniel Berger +1400
The Jupiter Florida native is the favorite to win this event. He is 10th on the PGA Money List, with more than $3.6M of earnings. He has finished inside the Top 10, 5 times this season, in 18 events. Berger’s last outing was a second place finish, where he lost the tiebreaker at the Travelers Championship. He was a popular pick at the US Open, following his win at the FedEx St. Jude Classic.
Danny Lee +1600
Danny Lee is near the top of favorites for the John Deere Classic. That’s due in large part to his recent success, and also because of his ability to golf. Lee is 54th on the money list following his three straight Top 25 finishes. He finished 9th last week at the Old White TPC, where he finished -9. Danny Lee also finished 3rd at the Travelers.
Steve Stricker +2500
Quite simply, Steve Stricker is going to be along with Zach Johnson the a favorite player of many on the golf course. Stricker is seeking his 4th John Deere Classic title. There is no reason he cannot be playing with a chance on Sunday.
Zach Johnson +2500
Zach Johnson is a local favorite at the John Deere Classic. The 41 year old has finished in the Top 10, twice this season. He has made the cut 11 out of 16 times this season. In the 16 events he has played, ZJ has earned just shy of $900,000. Johnson is listed at +2500 to win the John Deere Classic.
Ryan Moore +3300
The defending champion is always a contender at a course like TPC Deere Run. Just 170lbs, Moore can kill the golf ball and take some advantage over his contenders with just a few strokes. This season, he has finished in the Top 10 twice in 16 events. His best result recently came in late April, where he finished 18th in San Antonio. Moore misses the cut in his last event; a month ago at the Memorial.
