Posted by Derrick Harper on February 28, 2018 in

From the Club de Golf Chapultepec – the PGA Tour will head to Mexico for the WGC – Mexico Championship. The Prize Fund for this event is over $10M, and the winner will take down just shy of $2M. The course is a par 71 with more than 7,300 yards. There are several past champions expected to be part of this limited field. Dustin Johnson is the defending champion, and he also took it down in 2015. Let’s take a look at the PGA Betting Odds for the 2018 Mexico Championship while making some predictions.

PGA Betting Preview: 2018 Mexico Championship

Dustin Johnson +600

The defending champion is ranked third in the world right now. He has been in the Top 10 in 3 out of his 4 events this season. Johnson did not finish in the Top 10 in the recent Genesis Open, but his middle rounds of 69 and 64 had much thought he was getting there. Johnson continues to strike the golf ball well and is in great shape for this event.

Justin Thomas +800

The 224-year old that played his college golf at Alabama has taken over as the top golfer in the world. In 2018 – he has played 7 events and been in the Top 10 three times. Thomas is coming off winning the Honda Classic. Before that, he has 9th at the Genesis Open. Thomas has already made nearly $3.5M this season.

Jon Rahm +1200

The 223-year-old from Spain is 4th on the PGA Money List right now. Rahm has been in the Top 10 twice this season, with his most recent coming at the CareerBuilder back in late January. Before that, he finished 2nd at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. We have talked about Rahm being the next up and coming golfer, and he here comes.

Jordan Spieth +1200

Jordan Spieth is still just 24 years old. He has gotten off to a slow start this season as he has made just shy of $600,000 on the course. Spieth has not been in great form, but his 9th place finish at the Genesis has people thinking he is breaking out a bit. It’s never good to count Jordan Spieth out.

Tommy Fleetwood +1600

Fleetwood has been the talk of the PGA world. He was favored by many to win the Honda Classic. He did not disappoint, with a 4th place finish. That was his second Top 10 this season, as he went to Albany and finished third at the Hero World Challenge. Fleetwood is bound for his best season on the course.

Tommy Fleetwood is one of the PGA Betting favorites to win the 2018 Mexico Championship.

Rickie Fowler +1600

The former Oklahoma State golfer has finished in the Top 10 twice this season, including his win at the Hero World Challenge. He followed that up with a 4th place finish at the Sentry Tournament of Champions. Since then – his form has not been as great with two missed cuts in three events.

Phil Mickelson +1800

Lefty has played some good golf this season. He will be able to compete with the younger guys, but can he last four days and take this down? Phil will be in the mix, so if you want to take a gamble at +1800 – go for it!
