The 61st annual The American Express golf tournament will be returning to the desert at three Coachella Valley courses – La Quinta Country Club, the Stadium Course at PGA West and the Nicklaus Tournament Course at PGA West. This event will run from January 16 through January 19. The purse is nicely stacked, with a little over $6 million total and $1.2 million to the winner.

Let’s take a look at the latest Golf Odds while making some predictions.

Potential 2020 American Express Open Winning Picks

Rickie Fowler – Fowler is the 22nd best golfer in the world according to the rankings. He has had one top 10 finish so far this year and had a nice resume from last years efforts to really make a case for this year’s tournament.

Sungjae Im – Im is the 35th best golfer in the rankings and has a dangerous approach to the game as any other. He has two top 10 finishes so far this year. For 2019, he seemed to hover around the top five a lot but never really captured the victories when he was that close.

Paul Casey – Casey is the 17th best golfer in the world. His 2019 campaign was icing on the cake to a lot of his career wins, and a big improvement from 2018. I look for him to improve his game even more from here on out.

Phil Mickelson – Mickelson is the 79th best golfer, but do not let that number fool you because this man has seen and done it all on the golf course. He had a solid 2019 and could potentially be dangerous if he happens to hover around the top 10 early on in the tournament.

Rory Sabbatini – Sabbatini is another golfer that, according to his 84th place in the rankings, could potentially be misleading. He had a great 2019 with six top 10 finishes and arguably one of his best years he has had in awhile.

Potential 2020 American Express Open Winner

This tournament is truly open to anyone that comes ready to play. But I believe the winner of the American Express Open will be Rickie Fowler.

A lot of people have Fowler as a favorite and somewhat of a long shot at the same time. He is not the best golfer competing at this event but he clearly has the resume to handle himself appropriately. He is a solid betting choice I believe since you know what you are getting out of him.
