2019 RBC Canadian Open Odds, Predictions & Picks

What a week for Canadian sports fans! Canada saw it’s first ever NBA Finals games, as the Toronto Raptors hosted the Golden State Warriors. And now up 2-1 in the best-of-seven series, the Canadian fans are excited. What will give them even more excitement, is the fact that the Hamilton Golf and Country Club in Ancaster, Ontario will host the 2019 RBC Canadian Open.

In the past, the Canadian Open wasn’t an event that drew a lot of the world’s top golfers. However, with the PGA schedule changes that were made, the Canadian Open is now a very desirable event for the golfer to attend. The Canadian Open was previously held the week after the US Open, it is now held the week before the Open.  The Canadian Open will now be a tune-up event for the US Open.

With all of that being said, the Canadian Open will now have a very strong field. Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson, Rory McIlroy, Matt Kuchar, Scott Piercy, Henrik Stenson, and Justin Thomas highlight the strong field.

Let’s take a look at some of this weekend’s golf odds favorites to take home the top prize.

Dustin Johnson

Johnson won this event last year. Johnson has been great in 2019. He has finished in the top 10 seven times. This is a very short course, so this will play into Johnson’s hands. If Johnson can keep things in the fairways, he’ll have a great shot at another tour victory.

Rory McIlroy

Any time he’s on the course, he has a great chance to be victorious. His play in 2019 has been very good. This course is one that he should see success on. In 9 of his last 11 tournaments, McIlroy has finished in the top 10. Much like Dustin Johnson, if Rory can keep his drives in the fairway, he should be in good shape.

Brooks Koepka

Has anyone had a better 2019 than Koepka? He will want to be on top of his game heading into the US Open.  Koepka hasn’t played since winning at Bethpage, but he’ll be looking to play well heading into a chance for a US Open three-peat.

Matt Kuchar

Kuchar has won twice this season and has seven top-10 finishes. He has played well in past Canadian Opens, finishing in the top 10 in four of the past 6. Kuchar is known to be great iron player, and this course is set up for a player like Kuchar to be successful.

Justin Thomas

Thomas has never played in this event. He missed the cut at the Memorial and is looking for his first victory in 2019. He’ll be hungry to get his first win, and he’ll want to play well heading into the US Open.

The Hamilton Golf and Country Club will be celebrating it’s 100 year anniversary of hosting it’s first Canadian Open. With four of the top six golfers in the world in the field, this will be the most star-studded Canadian Open ever.  The field will be looking to play well heading into next weekend’s US Open.
