120 of the top players in the world. $9.1 million up for grabs. A Jack Nicklaus golf course. And Tiger Woods.  Welcome to the 2019 Memorial Tournament.

The Muirfield Village Golf Club in Dublin, Ohio is where all of the action will take place this weekend. In a field highlighted by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy, Jordan Spieth, and Justin Thomas, just to name a few, there will be a major-like atmosphere.

Muirfield is a par 72, 7,392 yard course. Designed by The Golden Bear himself, Jack Nicklaus, this course is known as one of the top 50 courses in the world. This course has hosted the Ryder Cup, Solheim Cup, and the President’s Cup tournaments.

Let’s take a look at some of the top names in the field that are looking to tame Muirfield, and take home a large chunk of the $9.1 million purse.

Tiger Woods

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +1200

Woods struggled at the PGA at Bethpage.  What better place to bounce back than at Muirfield.  He has finished in the top 10 in eight of his 16 starts at the Memorial. He has struggled here recently, but he needs to get back into the swing of.  What better place to do it than at Muirfield?

Rory McIlroy

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +900

Rory has been Jekyl and Hyde this year.  In the majors he’s been horrible, but in regular tour events, he’s been a top-notch golfer.

Justin Rose

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +1600

Rose loves to play at Muirfield. He has struggled recently, but coming to play a favorite may help turn things around for him. Rose has won here before.

Justin Thomas

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +1800

Thomas hasn’t played since the Masters. After a six week layoff, will he return to his former self, or will he need more time to work the rust off?

Jason Day

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +2000

Although this is Day’s “home away from home”, he hasn’t played well at Muirfield.  His best finish was a tie for 15th.  Is this the year that he breaks through?

Matt Kuchar

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +1800

Kuchar is currently The FedEx Cup points leader. He is a past winner(2013), and he has 10 career top-15 finishes at the Memorial.  He has finished 12th or better in his last five tournaments. This all bodes well for Kuchar heading into the weekend.

Tony Finau

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +2000

Finau has played stellar golf in 2019. Coming off his second place finish at the Colonial, Finau should be confident heading into the Memorial.

Hideki Matsuyama

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +2200

Hideki has three top 10 finishes this season. In the first three rounds of the Masters and the PGA, he was near the top.  His final day scores weren’t what he wanted them to be.  He won here in 2014, and his driving distance is made for this course.

Rickie Fowler

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +2000

Fowler loves playing at Muirfield. Fowler is due for a victory.

Patrick Cantlay

  • 2019 Memorial Tournament Odds: +1600

Cantlay has finished third in his last two starts. He finished fourth at Muirfield last year. He could sneak up on some of the top names this weekend.

This will be the 44th gathering at “Jack’s Place”. With some of the top names in golf, we should see some top notch golf. Will the favorites dominate the field, or will someone make a name for himself and take home the hefty prize for winning the Memorial?
