2019 Hero World Challenge Odds, Preview & Expert Prediction

The 2019 Hero World Challenge will kick off on wednesday for the fifth annual time. The tournament is and invite only competition that will be hosted by none other than Tiger Woods. The field will consist of 18 of the top golfers in the world and there will be no cuts as a result of the few people they have competing. The competition will take place at Albany golf course in Nassau, Bahamas. Ernie Els designed this course and is a par-72 but has more par 5’s and par 4’s than most of the courses you find on tour. As a result the golfers able to hit the long ball should see pretty low scores on this course.

If you had to classify what type of course it is a lynx course with water stretching from holes 3-7. Wind will likely play a factor in this tournament as practice rounds this week saw up to 20 miles an hour gusts of wind. Now that we know a little about the course, let’s take a look at some of the Golf betting favorites competing in this Tournament.

2019 Hero World Challenge Odds, Preview & Expert Prediction

Tiger in the Mix

Tiger Woods is playing some great golf at the moment as during his last outing he won the tournament that he was playing in. He is also the host of this competition so he has likely spent some time on the course prior to this week. If his driver can be used well look out as there are close to seven or maybe eight eagle opportunities due to the long and lengthy holes. With action wrapping up on Saturday on NBC, look for Tiger to be a tough competitor and have plenty of fan support.

Other Big Names

Jordan Spieth has 28-1 betting odds coming into this weekend and that looks to be a pretty good value if he can come out and reclaim the informal title of best putter on Tour. He isn’t on the run like he was a few years ago but Spieth is really starting to figure things out again and looks to establish himself among the top Tour competitors. His last time at Albany he took third in 2017.

Jon Rahm is coming off an impressive victory in the DP World Tour Championship and just happens to be playing incredible. He currently has 4-1 odds on mybookie for the Hero Challenge and rightfully so as he is the defending champion here. Last year he was able to beat Tony Finau by four strokes. He is a good choice to finish in the top of the leaderboard.

Gary Woodland is also sporting 4-1 odds and is a good value pick as he has finished top 10 in his last 3 events. At this course alone he finished 8th in his first time on the course.

Xander Schauffele is where I would be placing my money as he took 8th last season at Albany. His last two World Golf Championship outings saw a Win and a runner up. He has the highest birdie percentage over anyone on the tour over the past year. He also has been the best at scoring on par 5s during that time and with plenty of opportunities he may just run away with this competition early and never look back.
