12 of the top 50 golfers in the world will invade the Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Florida for the 2018 QBE Shootout.  This event is hosted by “The Shark” Greg Norman.

This event is unique to the PGA tour in many ways.  For starters, it is a three-day, 54 hole stroke play event.  On the first day, it will be a scramble format.  On day two, the players will play a modified alternate shot round, and on the final day, they’ll play the best ball. Unique Pairings Another unique wrinkle to this tournament is that only 24 players are invited, and they play in 12 2 person teams.  The field is highlighted by Bryson DeChambeau, Kevin Kisner, Billy Horschel, Brandt Snedeker, Graeme McDowell, Bubba Watson, Tony Finau, Sean O’Hair, and Steve Stricker.  There is also a female in the field, as Lexi Thompson will be taking part in this event, so let’s take a look at the betting odds and favorites.

2018 QBE Shootout Betting Preview & Expert Pick

Defending Champions BackSean O’Hair and Steve Stricker won this event last year, but they will be challenged by some other very strong pairings.  The pair of Billy Horschel and Brandt Snedeker could be a top contender for the title. Horschel has the long game, while Snedeker is one of the best putters on the PGA Tour. Snedeker won this event in 2015 when he was paired with Jason Dufner.

Horschel has finished in the top 5 of this event every time he has been in it except for last year. Up and ComingAnother duo looking to take home the victory is Bryson DeChambeau and Kevin Na. DeChambeau has been on quite the run as of late, as he has won three of his last 6 starts. Na is a very accurate player and is good with the putter.  This combination should challenger for the title.

Some Other Favorites

Cameron Champ & Kevin Kisner is also another duo to keep an eye on.  Champ has made quite the impression in his rookie season.  Champ is a huge driver, and his long drives are making waves on the tour. Kisner will be a good compliment to Champ and his game.

Cameron Champ & Kevin Kisner are favorites to win the 2018 QBE Shootout.

Another duo to keep an eye on is the pairing of Tony Finau and Lexi Thompson. This pairing finished fourth in last year’s event. Finau is coming off of a year in which he opened a lot of eyes with his superb play. Many people will be watching Thompson play from the men’s tees and will want to see how her game will adapt. Odds and PickThe uniqueness of this event will make it fun to watch. With some odd pairings and combinations that aren’t used to playing together, the QBE Shootout will give golf fans a different look at how golf can be played.
