2018 Dell Technologies Championship Odds & Betting Preview

TPC Boston is the place to be, come the last day of August.  The winning purse is a whopping $9,000,000!  Yes, for those of you nine to fivers out there, that was a number with two commas!  Here’s a look at some of my odds favorites to win the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship and a little bit about why they find themselves in my good graces for this event:

2018 Dell Technologies Championship Odds & Betting Preview

Brooks Koepka +1200

After winning the Open at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis recently, Brooks Koepka once again asserted himself as one of the top young players in the game of golf today.  He battled to the top of the leaderboard and managed to stave off a very intimidating golfer in Tiger Woods to keep the trophy and purse in his sole possession.  Look for Koepka to ride high on that momentum and place in the top five again here.  His variety of skills and continued mental toughness may put him atop the field again in Boston.

Tiger Woods +1800

Tiger nearly came back to take a major once again if not for Brooks Koepka standing in his way.  He is not just back to relevancy, but back to being competitive and back to the leaderboards.  He has always had a good round of golf in him, but we all saw that he IS capable of putting together a weekend of solid rounds with few mistakes.

That is what he was missing, what was holding him back from capturing what has been the most elusive major is his career.  It is too easy to say Tiger is back.  I feel that he is still fighting his way back and once he is consistently in the top ten finishers, it will be a constant effort to stay there.  I’m not convinced just yet that Tiger has another major win in him.  I feel we are all spoiled that he is even still hanging out in clubhouses past opening cuts after what his back has been through.

Not another golfer out there could do what Tiger is doing, so bottom line, nothing will surprise me, but I don’t expect him to take the trophy anytime soon.

Justin Thomas +1000

Don’t forget this guy won the event last year.  Look for him to defend the title.  He shot a 63 here last year in his final round.  Justin Thomas is a tremendous all-around player and that is what this course demands.  The course throws a little bit of everything at you.  Not much to say here except Justin Thomas is one of the most consistent golfers we have on the courses today.  I expect a high finish from him.  Wouldn’t surprise me to find him at the top of the field.

Other Favorites for the 2018 Dell Technologies Championship

I also like, for similar reasons as above, Tony Finau and Jordan Spieth.  Both have been playing well.  Finau has been in the top of the leaderboards in nearly every tournament he plays in and Spieth has had some outstanding holes, only to be followed by some real clunkers.   If he can shake that poor play while honing in on the good, look out because no one can be a Jordan Spieth who’s on top of his game. Finau is listed at +2800, while Spieth is +2000. Good luck!
