League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2020 Summer Week 5 is underway with another pair of exciting matches featuring some of the strongest Chinese League of Legends teams. Kicking off the Tuesday matches will be LNG Esports, who will lock horns with Bilibili Gaming, followed by a heavily anticipated clash between Royal Never Give Up and Team WE. Let’s take a closer look at the upcoming matches so you can place your bets against their League of Legends odds.

League of Legends Pro League (LPL) 2020 Summer Split – June 30 matches

LNG Esports vs Bilibili Gaming – Tuesday, June 30 – 17:00 CST

LNG Esports’ results this split have been all over the place, which is not exactly bad, however, as we look back at their most recent performances, it becomes clear Li “Flandre” Xuan-Jun and co. are facing what is referred to as a mid-season slump. LNG began their journey through LPL 2020 Summer with a loss to Suning (0-2), to which they added two shock wins against the reigning world champions FunPlus Phoenix (2-1) and Royal Never Give Up (2-0). Week 3-4, however, did not go as planned for Flandre and his crew, seeing how LNG lost to eStar (0-2), Oh My God (0-2) and ViCi Gaming (1-2), which now sits them 14th in the league with a 2-4 record.

Bilibili Gaming enjoyed a similar journey throughout the opening four weeks of LPL Summer, albeit with slightly less success. So far this split Xie “Jinjiao” Jin-Shan and his crew lost to ViCi (0-2), FPX (0-2), Victory Five (1-2) and Top Esports (0-2), while they managed to claim a hard-fought win over eStar (2-1) at the start of Week 3.

Comparing these two sides, it’s difficult to pick out a winner. Both teams are putting up some iffy performances as of late, which especially holds true for Bilibili Gaming, who are struggling with consistency. Their jungler Zhou “l3est16” Zhi-Li is just not performing at the level his team needs him to and this effectively harms Bilibili’s macro play. On a more positive note, ADC Wang “Wing” Shu-Kai is playing well, but he alone won’t be enough for Bilibili to see any success this split.

It’s worth noting, however, that LNG are experiencing a similar situation with their jungler Xiong “Xx” Yu-Long which makes it hard to understand why they are priced as such favourites.

Putting these two squads side-by-side, there is not a lot to set them apart. While LNG have seen far more success this split, their wins against RNG and FPX were a fluke more than anything else. This match can easily end either way, so it makes the most sense to place a wager on over 2.5 maps. A longshot bet on Bilibili can also be considered.

Prediction: Over 2.5 maps

Royal Never Give Up vs Team WE – Tuesday, June 30 – 19:00 CST

Both RNG and Team WE have managed a 4-2 record throughout the opening four weeks of LPL 2020 Summer, which sits them amongst the top six teams in the league. RNG have defeated OMG (2-0), ViCi (2-0), JD Gaming (2-1) and eStar (2-1), but fell short against LNG Esports (0-2) and most recently Victory Five (0-2). Team WE, on the other side, took down EDward Gaming (2-1), Invictus Gaming (2-0), ViCi (2-0) and Rogue Warriors (2-0), while they did not see the same level of success against Suning (1-2) and FunPlus Phoenix (1-2).

RNG will be entering this bout as the main favourites, which is due to their win against the reigning LPL champions JD Gaming in Week 3, however, it’s hard to trust a team that lost to Victory Five less than a week ago. That is not to say Team WE played perfectly, but it’s worth noting that their only loss in the last three weeks came against FunPlus Phoenix and even there Team WE managed to steal one map.

The problem with RNG is their lack of consistency which is likely due to their top lane changes. The departure of their top laner Xie “Langx” Zhen-Ying ushered the signing of He “705” Yu-Long and Tian “New” Zhi-Peng, neither of whom has yet to impress. It’s fair to say RNG’s top side is relatively weak but they at least have a strong ADC in Lu “Betty” Yu-Hung, but Betty alone won’t be able to carry this team through the season.

While RNG have clear issues, Team WE don’t. This roster has an established synergy which makes them a well-rounded team. Their top laner Park “Morgan” Gi-tae is not exactly the best top laner in the league, but he holds his own on the weak side and with jungler Jiang “beishang” Zhi-Peng by his side, Team WE don’t have to worry about losing their top side.

If we were to see RNG win here, it would likely be because of Betty, but we don’t believe he will have an easy time against Zhao “Jiumeng” Jia-Hao. The latter is currently one of the best-performing ADC mains in the league and should be more than capable of holding his own in the bottom lane.

RNG might have higher quality players on the roster, but that rarely shows. Betty and co. are showing signs of instability and until we see some improvement, betting on Team WE to claim the spoils is the better bet to take.

Prediction: Team WE to win
