CBLOL 2020 Split 1 – April 25 matches

KaBuM! e-Sports vs Flamengo eSports – Friday, April 24 – 14:00 BRT

KaBuM! e-Sports and Flamengo eSports met less than two weeks ago, which makes it easy to see which side has an advantage heading into this bout, but perhaps that advantage is more  zhysiological rather than the quality advantage you would be hoping to see in the favourite.

Flamengo won their recent clash with KaBuM!, but have since lost tp paiN Gaming, Vivo Keyd and last weekend edged past FURIA. KaBuM!, on the other side won four out of the five fixtures they have played since they met with Flamengo, which includes triumphs over Vivo Keyd, FURIA, Redemption eSports POA, INTZ and Prodigy Gaming. Based on the recent showings of these two sides, KaBuM! look far better prepared to claim the spoils here and it’s even worth noting that their loss to Flamengo came down to the wire, so there is no reason to have KaBuM! priced as massive underdogs. Side with KaBuM! to defeat Flamengo.

Prediction: KaBuM! e-Sports to win

Redemption eSports POA vs Vivo Keyd – Friday, April 24 – 15:00 BRT

Redemption eSports POA are by far the worst team in the league and the fact that they are already guaranteed to finish this split at the bottom fo the standings, they, realistically have no reason to even try and win here. That is not to say Redemption eSports POA won’t care and just throw the game, but the lack of motivation, mixed with low morale and poor quality won’t do them any favours against the league frontrunners Vivo Keyd. Upsets are always something to ponder, but in this case, we see no reason to side with Redemption eSports POA over VK.

Prediction: Vivo Keyd to win

FURIA Uppercut vs INTZ – Friday, April 24 – 16:00 BRT

An exciting clash, which in theory, can easily end both ways. FURIA Uppercut and INTZ met twice this season, with each side pocketing one win, so there is nothing to separate these two teams in terms of their h2h record. It is worth noting, however, that INTZ won the most recent clash back at the start of April, which would suggest they should be the stronger side here and bookmakers seemingly agree as INTZ are entering this bout as heavy favourites. That, however, does not seem fair, considering INTZ are 3-2 in their last five games, which includes defats to paiN Gaming and KaBum! e-Sports. FURIA, on the other side are on a 4-1 run in their last five, which includes wins over paiN Gaming, KaBum!, Prodigy Gaming and Redemption eSports POA.

Quality-wise these two sides match up nicely, as it was displayed in their previous meetings, however, with FURIA showcasing better form in their recent matches, they seem like they’re capable of producing an upset win or at least keep this match close. This match seems like a complete coin-toss, which is why siding with the underdogs is the only reasonable betting pick.

Prediction: FURIA Uppercut to win

paiN Gaming vs Prodigy Esport – Friday, April 24 – 17:00 BRT

PaiN Gaming already defeated Prodigy twice this season but there is a reason to believe this meeting will end differently. Prodigy have concluded Week 8 of CBLOL with a disappointing 2-3 run in their last five, which included wins over Redemption eSports POA and Flamengo, and losses against paiN Gaming, Vivo Keyd and FURIA. PaiN Gaming, on the other side are entering Week 9 with a streak of three consecutive defeats against INTZ, Vivo Keyd and Redemption eSports POA.

There is no going around the fact paiN severely underperformed throughout Week 8 and the fact that they lost to INTZ and Redemption eSports POA is worrying, to say the least. They might have defeated Prodigy twice already this split, but as it stands now, Prodigy look better prepared for this bout. This might change once the first competitive day of Week 9 ends, however, with the current odds, it’s worth siding with Prodigy Esports to pocket a revenge win this Saturday.

Prediction: Prodigy Gaming to win
