Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 3 Preview

The tension is still rising, everything is set for battle

After what was an action-less premiere episode, which was full of long-awaited reunions, references to the past and clues of what lies ahead, the episode two opened where the first left off, and once again left the action-hungry fans… well, hungry. We did, however, see plenty of emotions and tensions, which served as a build-up for the episodes to come.

Talking about emotions, we finally saw Gendry and Arya revealing their feelings for each other, which was one of the biggest moments of the episode.

Falling into the same category of big moments, we also saw Jaime fulfill one of Brienne wishes, which was to get knighted and of course, we can not disregard the talk between Sansa and Daenerys when an important question was asked; what will happen after they defeat the dead and destroy Cersei, what will happen to the North?

If we draw a line, the biggest moment of e2, which will serve as a big plot point going forward was John finally telling Daenerys he is Aegon Targaryen, thus having the most rightful claim to the iron throne.

The episode finished with Night King and his generals showing up at Winterfell, finally setting a stage for a very big battle in episode three.

The Night King is coming!

After the premiere episode, many of us expected it will all go down in the second episode, however, that was not the case. Instead, we saw some more groundwork, an extension to episode 1, if you will, which, added to the tension and anticipation of what is to come.

Looking at how the opening two episodes ended, we can be sure that episode 3 is the episode when the long-awaited battle will happen. While I’ll go and guess the outcome, I am confident saying Winterfell forces will lose the war due to one simple reason; Golden Company.

They will need to come in at some point, so it makes sense that Winterfell forces suffer losses and team up with the Golden Company in the future.

This theory in combination with the trailer, which showed the main characters fighting on top of Winterfell’s battlement, which is basically their last line of defense, does not look too promising.

Additionally, it seems like the writers decided to give each major character a chance to say their final “farewell” in episode two, before the long-awaited battle ahead, which might suggest we will be looking at yet another death.

This, for some, makes the upcoming episode that more appealing, as it’s quite possible that we have seen our favorite character alive for the last time in episode 2. Who that may be, we can only guess.
