Top Boxing Matches to Bet On Saturday, June 26
Mario Barrios vs. Gervonta Davis
- When: Saturday, June 26
- Where: State Farm Arena, Atlanta, Georgia, United States
Mario Barrios vs. Gervonta Davis Betting Odds
Mario Barrios and Gervonta Davis will meet in the ring on Saturday, June 26, at State Farm Arena in a battle between two unbeaten warriors. The two will duke it out for the WBA super lightweight world championship title.
Barrios enter the right as the defending champion, having won the title in 2019 and hasn’t lost it since. Davis will surely look to change that as he looks to claim his 25th career victory.
Davis enters the fight off an emphatic highlight knockout victory against Leo Santa Cruz, who he defeated in the sixth round in October 2020. Although ranking knockouts is completely subjective, Davis’ KO against Santa Cruz was arguably one of the most blistering of 2020.
It marked Davis’ 23rd KO victory of his career, which translates to a scary 95.83% KO rate for the 26-year-old. Davis has already captured world championship titles as a super featherweight and a lightweight and now aims to complete the trifecta on Saturday.
As good as Davis has been, he doesn’t have the champions pedigree of Mario Barrios, who has been on the top since September 2019. Still, you have to wonder whether Barrios will manage to avoid Davis’ incredible stoppage rate even though the “El Azteca” has the physical advantage of being four inches taller and three and a half inches longer reach.
Many believe in Davis’ power to carry him to victory, and while that might be the case, the betting odds offer far more value on the defending champion. It is somewhat of a longshot bet, but at this price, siding with Barrios and his physical advantages is the way to go.
Erickson Lubin vs. Jeison Rosario
- When: Saturday, June 26
- Where: Atlanta, Georgia
Erickson Lubin vs. Jeison Rosario Betting Odds
Erickson Lubin will square off with Jeison Rosario Saturday, June 26, in Atlanta, Georgia, in what promises to be a close and exciting fight. These two fighters seem pretty equally matched on paper, with Lubin holding a slight edge.
In 24 professional fights, Lubin lost only once (23-1) and has produced 16 KOs. Rosario is 20-2-1 in his 24 fights with 14 KOs, and while his performances come very close to that of Lubin, there’s a good reason why Rosario is priced as an underdog.
Rosario enters this match off an 8th round KO defeat against Terrell Gausha, who Lubin defeated in September, so it’s not shocking to see him as the favorite here.
Most bettors seem to be backing Lubin to defeat Rosario for the second time, and that makes a lot of sense. Lubin is an inch and a half taller than the Dominican and has a 4.5’’ reach, which could serve as a decisive advantage in such a closely contested fight.
What’s more, Lubin has lost only one fight in his career, and even that happened way back in 2017 when he got KO-ed by Jermell Charlo. Much of the result of that day came down to Lubin’s recklessness and not so much due to his lack of quality as a fighter.
He has since improved drastically and won all of the following five fights. He might not have ended his bouts with a KO in his last two outings, but Lubin has plenty of power to KO any opponent he faces – including Rosario.
The smart bet here is to take Lubin as a stronger and bigger fighter; however, some may fancy a bet on Lubin to win with KO/TKO.
