On racing’s biggest weekend, the Formula 1 circuit makes its annual stop in Monaco for the Monaco Grand Prix. This 78 lap race is the most dangerous and demanding race on the Formula 1 circuit. Monaco has hosted the F1 circuit every year since 1955. The Monaco Grand Prix is considered the “crown jewel” of the F1 races.

The Monaco Grand Prix is the Indianapolis 500 and the Daytona 500 of the Formula 1 Circuit. If you want to reach driving immortality, you must win the Monaco Grand Prix. Ayrton Senna has won the GP six times, Michael Schumacher has claimed the race five times, and Lewis Hamilton has won twice.

Mercedes has dominated the Formula 1 circuit in 2019. Led by Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas, Mercedes has finished 1-2 in the season’s first five races. Hamilton has yet to race to his satisfaction this year and is looking to make changes to better his driving. Even with the issues, Hamilton and Team Mercedes have still dominated in 2019.

Max Verstappen of Team Red Bull would love to break into the top 2 and stop the Mercedes streak. Along with his teammate Daniel Ricciardo, Verstappen wants to crack the dominance of team Mercedes.

Team Ferrari has struggled thus far. Led by Sebastian Vettel and Charles LeClerc, the Ferrari group has yet to get things going.

Hamilton’s Mercedes teammate has won the two races that Hamilton hasn’t. In the other three, he finished second two Hamilton. The Monaco Grand Prix is a race that he has yet to win. He finished fourth and fifth in 2017 and 2018 and is still looking for that elusive title.

Max Verstappen

Verstappen is currently third in the driver standings behind Hamilton and Bottas. The Monaco Grand Prix could be the breakthrough that he needs to break into the group of elite drivers.

Charles LeClerc

Although it has been a rough year for the Ferrari’s, LeClerc will be looking to race well on his home course. He has finished fifth in his last three races, so he’ll be working hard to get to the podium in front of his home crowd.

Sebastian Vettel

Vettel has enjoyed a lot of success at Monaco. Amongst his four F1 championships are two victories at the Monaco Grand Prix. He was the 2017 winner and finished in second in 2018.
