2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Betting Preview & Expert Pick

The 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix is set to take place on Sunday, July 29, from Budapest Hungary. Hungary has been on the Formula 1 schedule every year since 1986. The Hungarian is widely considered one of the safest racetracks in Formula, but it is also a very challenging course. Sebastian Vettel was last year’s winner of the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The warm climate of Hungary in late July is one of the reasons that makes this course so difficult for drivers. Teams struggle to keep their cars cools due to the heat and also the lack of straights on the racetrack. Drivers will have a chance to reach top speeds of near 300 kilometers per hour at this very fast course. This is the last Formula Grand Prix race before the summer break begins. Let’s take a look at the betting odds and a quick breakdown of a few of the top bets.

Betting Preview

The odds indicate that just six drivers have a real shot of winning in Hungary this weekend, but in Formula One, anything can happen. Defending champions, Sebastian Vettel, is the heavy favorite to repeat this weekend at the Hungarian. Vettel, who drives for Ferrari Formula 1, was also the winner of this race in 2015. Last year he held off his teammate, Kimi Raikkonen, to win the race by 0.9 of a second.

Lewis Hamilton was the winner of this race in 2016 and has a great shot for another victory this weekend. Hamilton has five career wins at Hungary, so it is clear that he is comfortable at this racetrack. Hamilton knows how to handle the tight turns that this racetrack presents, and is the betting favorite for fastest lap this weekend.

Sebastian Vettel is one of the favorites to win the 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix.

A pair of Red Bull teammates checks in with the third and fourth best odds to win the Hungarian Grand Prix. Max Verstappen is just ahead of teammate Ricciardo, but the two should be working together on Sunday. Last year, Ricciardo and Verstappen crashed into each other during the first lap of the race. Ricciardo is already a two-time winner this season during the Formula 1 circuit.

Kimi Raikkonen and Valtteri Bottas round out the group of favorites, although they are way back of the top four. Raikkonen and Bottas finished second and third respectively last season in the race won by Vettel. Perhaps Raikkonen will be the Ferrari Formula 1 driver that gets the checkered flag this weekend in Budapest. Bottas, who drives for the Mercedes team, will have to contend with the very fast cars from the Formula 1 and Red Bull teams.

2018 Hungarian Grand Prix Expert Pick

This race has been dominated by Sebastian Vettel and Lewis Hamilton in recent years, and that trend should continue on Sunday. Both drivers are receiving around the same odds, so it just depends on who you think will perform the best. For my money, I’m taking Vettel to win for a second straight year.
